TOP TEN LARGEST MALLS IN THE WORLD.

Who says Philippines is a very poor country. Think Again.

10 shopping malls rank as the world’s largest, based on the amount of “Gross Leasable Area” - the number of square feet the property has for revenue-generating activities like retail, dining and amusements. Asia is home to eight of the world’s 10 largest malls, six of which were built in the last three years. Rankings are based on statistics from Eastern Connecticut State University, which compliles data from mall management companies.

World's Largest Mall

South China Mall
Location: Dongguan, China

Year Opened: 2005
Gross Leasable Area: 7.1 million square feet
In the Chinese mall arms race, this facility opened a year after the Golden Resources Mall to displace it as the country’s and the world’s largest. The space includes wind milss and theme parks, plus a replica of the Arc de Triomphe.

World's Largest Mall

Golden Resources Shopping Mall
Location: Beijing, China
Year Opened: 2004
Gross Leasable Area: 6 million square feet
Not sprawling, this is a stackep-up five story mall. Approximately 1,000 stores, selling plenty of familar global brands like Nike and DKNY. A truly ambitious real estate project, with new apartments and offices, surround the mall. A tough location outside the heart of the city has resulted in disappointing traffic from foreign tourists.

World's Largest Mall

SM Mall of Asia
Location: Pasay City, Philippines
Year Opened: 2006
Gross Leasable Area: 4.2 million square feet

Includes the first Olympic-sized swimming pool and first IMAX theater in the Philippines. Spread over four buildings, customers can get around on a 20-seat tram

World's Largest Mall

West Edmonton Mall
Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Year Opened: 1981
Gross Leasable Area: 3.8 million square feet
The biggest in North America, the West Edmonton Mall has over 800 stores, along with attractions like a water park, skating rink, casino and rides.

World's Largest Mall

SM Megamall
Location: Mandaluyong City, Philippines
Year Opened: 1991
Gross Leasable Area: 3.6 million square feet

Fun stuff includes bowling, ice skating and a 12-cinema movie theater, along with traditional mall fare like arcade games. Customers can also get a haircut or see a doctor at the Manila clinic.

World's Largest Mall

Berjaya Times Square
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Year Opened: 2005
Gross Leasable Area: 3.4 million square feet
Built with an adjacent hotel and convention center. In addition to over 1,000 retail shops, the mall includes a 12-story-high roller coaster, plus a pool, skating rink and “Cosmo’s World,” a children’s theme park.

World's Largest Mall

Beijing Mall
Location: Beijing, China
Year Opened: 2005
Gross Leasable Area: 3.4 million square feet
The first real suburban mall in China, located about an hour from downtown Beijing, this center has four levels with parking for 8,000 cars, plus a man-made beach. Bootlegged DVDs of American movies are a top seller.

World's Largest Mall

Zhengjia Plaza
Location: Guangzhou, China
Year Opened: 2005
Gross Leasable Area: 3 million square feet
Has been known to attract over half a million shoppers on a good day. Another mixed-use space, the mall has a hotel and office tower in addition to retail stores.

World's Largest Mall

SM City North Edsa
Location: Quezon City, Philippines
Year Opened: 1985
Gross Leasable Area: 3 million square feet

The first major “mega mall” built by SM Prime Holdings, which now claims three of the largest 10 in the world. It’s a five-story complex that boasts over 100 retail outlets and restaurants, along with 12 cinemas, a bowling alley and skating rink. An IMAX theater could be added soon.

World's Largest Mall

King of Prussia Mall
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Year Opened: 1962
Gross Leasable Area: 2.8 million square feet
This product of the original U.S. mall building surge in the early 1960s still survives on the top 10 list, at least until the next big project goes up in Asia. Billing itself as the “premier shopping destination on the East Coast,” this mall takes advantage of its location right off the Pennsylvania Turnpike to draw shoppers from New York, New Jersey and Maryland to its 400 stores. Despite a lack of theme parks and other modern amenities, package deals with Radisson Hotels and cross-marketing with nearby attractions like the Revolutionary War encampment at
Valley Forge draw out-of-state shoppers looking to get away for a day or two.

IT knowledge and Efficiency IS the key.

I only have a simpleminded approach in handling routers. Certainly additional learning would proppell me to greater heights I know. In the early stages of my stay in my current company, I somewhat initially handled the function of IT. I could have excelled in that field and be paid lucratively however issues with details got in my way. Choosing whether I should be making calls, doing the IT job of configuring routers, channeling diagrams of connections and getting frustrated in between led me to just excel in Making Calls and getting deals done. The details send my mind to a spin. Now our IT manager handles our routing demands. I had only wished our CRM would be Cisco. I have encountered Cisco Systems in my past jobs through their CRM systems and interfaces. Cisco's efficiency gave enough accuracy for reports generation and CRM development. Working as a Team Leader in Enfra USA monitoring agent transactions using Cisco certainly gave our company leverage in Outbound Customer Care.

Our phone routing systems are handled in separate routers. The routing is just an A and B system. Matt, Our IT Manager could sure use help from cisco.com's Cisco certification And if he gets it right man, I can't imagine how efficient our system would be. It will lead to more business generation and profit. Good systems handled by certified people such as the Cisco Certified People certainly go places. This nationally recognized online course and authorized certification training program provides students with the essential knowledge to install, configure, and operate simple routed LANs and WANs (computer thingies in layman) and obtain Cisco CCNA certification training. Matt will gain knowledge of switched LAN Emulation networks made up of Cisco equipment.

This is a busy month

Watched Dark Knight, a sad Batman movie. Nevertheless it was a good one because it made me hold my Pee for 2.5 hours. One minute of not paying attention makes you get lost in the story. Over all the focus on the Joker's demented persona and how he and Batman attacked each other was well portrayed by Heath Ledger who sadly died in the course of making Dark Knight. Overly bitter and mental was his character and for sure sinking into it would make you go down. It's sad that for a price of fame and fortune, he had to go down and eventually loose control of his real life.

What is a real good makes sense movie is Juno. The story talks about the harsh reality of sexual curiosity. One good first time pleasure would hit you of the realities of getting pregnant and would steal something from your youth. The movie eventually realizes that behind a mistake lies correction and moving on. You got to watch it.

I realized part of watching a movie is you have something to talk about. I imagine having not watched those movies I have watched I wouldnt have anything to talk about right at this very second. I could talk about my work or my daily living or what I see in the gym or how i feel but that would not help much at all.

Just spent weekends with my mother who was missing me so and wanted some company. She has just overcome some sickness that hit her and now under theraphy. And in this phase and stage of her life she needs some talking and care. I have never had this kind of friendly relationship with my mother. We bonded and spent our time looking for somethings she needed and bought her a bag she liked which I hope she is happy with. I also gave her a book to read on her alone time. My other likes to move a lot so when she has silent moments like anyone else, her mind goes someplace else.

I have also started a buddy program with my housemate. We had our diet contract wherein we listed down foods that are banned in the house. We also made commitments on scheduling our meals on time and grocery shopping meals together. I also made a commitment in going to the gym 4 times a week and have laid down a program of Cardio - abs - legs - arms and back in that 4 times a week cycle.

I havent paid much attention in my blogging for money experiment. This week is a busy week for office planning.

By the way, EHeads is really going to have a concert. I am not coming but my friends are. Best of luck to that gig and I hope it will be safe and sound for people who are going to go. My friend buena is really coming home from Malaysia for that.

Eraserheads: A reunion

Women's Classic Woman Pastel Tweed Blazer

I am a member of the mailing list of the now defunct and evolved icon of Philippine Rock music, The Eraserheads. By golly, I was one fan, my classmates and friends roadies and have seen them evolved from one band to another. Not until news from the blogmill circulated that the Big E will have a reunion. A stagerring 10 Million per member was paid for a 45 minute set. This Red List event was sponsored by marlboro.

Unfortunately for me, I outgrew the aching for the band. But I still get in tune of what is happening to them.

I can certainly watch this event on video which I hope Marlboro would provide thereafter. So I can see them in action sans sweat and stink which I am sure would be present at that time.

And I am very sure fans would be dying to get a hold of a front row ticket and or go back to the P.I for that just one day. A perfect sample is my friend Buena who at UP has been very crazy over them. Today I messaged her the news and here is why they are a big bad band event to watch out for.

MOVIES I RECO YOU NOT WATCH

THE HANCOCK: AN AWKWARD TWIST.

The problem, It is an awkward movie, the ending is weak. The first half was really done well, I'm thinking angry superhero meeting a pr person turning his life around would be good stuff to watch. Until that Charlize Theron turnaround came up and it terrorized the movie till the end. I personally think that the movie will turn out ok if they say they will make a sequel and or it was not Charlize Theron who took that part. Charlize is too heavy and charming for that role. Think Jumper and that the only way it will be watched is because of Will Smith. It managed to rake box office tix despite of the fact that it was lame.

THE HAPPENING: A NON EVENT

Now this movie had a lot of build up in the story, with a confusing synopsis and a "WHAT??" ending. I had to read the reviews just to check if it was the plants who made the people go insane or what. Turns out they had wacko interpretations of their own. I have always thought of M. Night as a great director with The Village and Lady in the Water. But the Happening is simply a non event so to speak. Mark Wahlberg's prowess was just a waste with all this running around trying to avoid the plant/terrorist attack to all of a sudden end with a question mark.

WATCHING OUT FOR:

Any movie that will make sense. Drop me a line with your reco's for good movies.

What have I been up to?

Because being alive is so great, I am busy. Not too busy for life but my life has color and activity.

I have just recently had a great trip with my officemates/friends to Taal, Batangas. the view is so breath taking. We trekked the volcano riding a horse just to get to the summit.

Apart from doing that I have also managed to get into a program of going to the gym for 18 months. I am now also watching what I eat. I made a deal with my house mate and have come to terms via a contract that we should refrain from eating food that we have put on our list. It is fun though to have a diet buddy it keeps me up with my goals. Exercising does well too, the surges on serotonin helps curb the irritation.

Will continue my journal later.
